My daughter looked at me with tear-filled eyes and asked:
"Daddy, can I stop now?"

She was still trying to decode "Anniversaire". It was too hard, but it was there, in the simplest story I could find.

Then, when she came across "acquiesce", I knew she was done with reading. It broke my heart.

I searched high and low for simple texts, but all I could find were repetitive books without any story.
